BPM Dashboards

The five P’s are a good starting point for every BPM dashboard and BI analysis.

  1. Process
  2. Progress
  3. People
  4. Policy
  5. Performance

They cover the five essential areas that need analysing, reporting and monitoring.

  • The Business Pain: Where are the bottlenecks?
  • The Business Pain: Who are the slackers? Who is not being efficient?
  • The Business Pain: What is happening with a specific process instance?
  • The Business Pain: What are the KPIs, Exceptions and Errors?

The Business Pain: Are we meeting our SLAs?

Gauges are used to show high level answers:.

  • Show me the efficiency-rate per employee in my department
  • Show me the number of rejected/wasted time/redundant proposals sent to the customer.
  • Show me the SLAs and KPIs for the last 3 months per customer.
  • Show me the revenue/deals won/successful requests of my department

Crunch-number reports are the ground level tools for getting the real answers.

These are the reports middle-management want. Numbers, drilldowns… visibility

Reporting needs to be around the business pains. KPI’s are used to target in on the problems.

People need targets. People need limits. It’s human nature.
